Linear memory
Nettet18. feb. 2024 · Block linear is a (not so often used) term referring to the opaque internal memory layout used in CUDA arrays. This is ordered ("block linear") to perform better in the texture cache, where spatial data locality is typically better suited to the applications which the texture and surface hardware is designed for (i.e. rendering). Share. Nettet28. mai 2009 · Staff. 06-12-2009 04:44 PM. The hardware definitely supports tiled or linear accesses, but AFAIK tiling is managed by the graphics/video drivers and the underlying memory manager. Normally surfaces used for 3D operations would be tiled for best performance. I don't believe tiling is directly controllable through the DirectX API.

Nettet26. sep. 2015 · Row-major vs. column-major. By far the two most common memory layouts for multi-dimensional array data are row-major and column-major. When working with 2D arrays (matrices), row-major vs. column-major are easy to describe. The row-major layout of a matrix puts the first row in contiguous memory, then the second row right … Nettet11. jan. 2024 · Assuming the host runtime called alloc and filled the linear memory with the desired data, it can now invoke a function that performs the actual computation, by passing the pointer returned by alloc, together with the length of the array. These arguments are used with Rust’s Vec::from_raw_parts to create a Vec with the …
Nettet8. feb. 2024 · Linear Allocation. The first memory allocation strategy that I will cover is also one of the simplest ones: linear allocation. As the name suggests, memory is allocated linearly. Throughout this series, I will be using the concept of an allocator as a means to allocate this memory. NettetGPU Framebuffer Memory: Understanding Tiling. Modern graphics hardware requires a high amount of memory bandwidth as part of rendering operations. External memory bandwidth is costly in terms of space and power requirements, especially for mobile rendering. This article discusses tile-based rendering, the approach used by most …
NettetFlat memory model or linear memory model refers to a memory addressing paradigm in which "memory appears to the program as a single contiguous address space." [1] The CPU can directly (and linearly ) address all of the available memory locations without having to resort to any sort of memory segmentation or paging schemes.
