WebI was recently nominated for membership to Sigma Xi, "The Scientific Research Honor Society." It could cost me $20 to join plus $55 in annual dues. Is this worth paying for? Anyone have an experience with this society? My advisor told me the fee wasn't worth it, and to just put "nominated for membership to Sigma Xi" on my resume. WebBy simply being a member of an organization for which that you pay to join isn't something you really want on your CV. For Sigma Xi, you have to be nominated by another member of your local chapter, usually a professor. Sigma Xi has a bigger research presence in some cities and not in others. Agree.
